“The Three Hares”, sometimes referred to as “The Machine,” layers the ancient symbol of the three hares, juxtaposed with gold shapes, elude to Leonardo da Vinci’s perpetual motional machine sketches. At the center of the machine we see a heart. The black, white, and grey pattern suggests the checkered flags used during car racing and tricks the brain into seeing the image as moving.
